My name is Lara Richmond and I am a Project Manager and Interior Designer based in the San Francisco East Bay. I have been remodeling homes for 15 years across markets in Washington, D.C., New York, and San Francisco. I fell in love with residential remodeling during the renovation of my first home, and moved on to study design and architecture at George Washington University. I believe that our external environment has a tremendous impact on our emotional and physical well-being, and I feel good every day about helping people create beautiful and functional spaces for themselves and their families.

I live in a mid-century house in the hills with my husband and our youngest of three boys. With two children launched, I now have more time to travel, see friends, and work on my own home projects. With a fixer-upper of my own, I am never short of weekend activities! I also enjoy all that northern California has to offer, including beaches, wine-tasting, and hiking in the majestic redwood forests.

The home should be a balance of colors and pieces reminiscent of something from the client’s life. The color palette consists of soothing tones and pops of retro hues with neutrals to balance them. It’s an ever-evolving style that is of-the-moment, not too modern but not too traditional, while expertly mixing the latest looks with pieces from the past to create a purposeful, welcoming environment.

A love of travel and experiencing new places has brought me from Ohio to Tennessee, Arizona, and now Florida. In my free time, I’ll be at local shops looking for that next great design find or taking in the natural beauty of Florida’s beaches and trails with my daughter and two dogs.

What excites me most about the process is seeing how much personal spaces can change.

I'm one of those project managers who got into remodeling by swinging a hammer (on occasion). Since the early 2000s, I’ve been deeply involved in the construction trades, and this experience naturally led me to obtain my residential contractor license and establish my own design-build firm. I’ve navigated the worlds where construction meets design, leading teams, shaping interior selections, and being part of remodels and new-build projects that have won local awards. I’ve honed my skills by learning from some of the top tradespeople and master craftsmen (and -women) in the industry.

When not scouring over construction documents or design selections, you’ll find me spoiling Bambi, my rescued Jack Russell Terrier. Having a little dog as my sidekick is the best! My husband and I are all about hitting the road with Bambi for a quick getaway, catching some live music, or checking out the latest spot to eat in town.

I grew up in a small mountain town in the heart of Northern California where resources were limited, but inspiration was plentiful! I started my design journey in Newport Beach at the Interior Designers Institute and have continued on that path for the last 20 years. In that time I have worked in all facets of real estate and design and have done everything from real estate and flipping houses to home staging and interior and landscape design for both residential and commercial clients.

I currently reside in the Covina Hills area in Southern California with my husband, two kiddos, and two dogs, in a classic 1941 California ranch home that is always in some state of remodel. When we’re not out in the garden working, we love to travel, go to concerts, and spend time enjoying delicious food and wine with our wonderful friends and family. My professional experience began soon after graduating from the University of San Diego with a BA in Architecture and International Business. I have worked as a residential and commercial interior designer and project manager and have managed and staged homes as well. I have a practiced eye for what makes a home sell.

I have been fortunate enough to travel extensively—I never miss out on a chance to explore— and the more I see the world, the less I believe in a formulaic design methodology. Instead I follow a client-centric approach, helping my customers strengthen their personal connections to their spaces. I embrace an eco-conscious methodology and creative aesthetics.

I am proud to have been born and raised in San Francisco. When I’m not working, I’m enjoying the endless restaurants the city has to offer, planning my next trip to somewhere I haven’t yet been, or escaping it all with a retreat into nature.

Building personalized spaces and renovations has always been part of my life. From an early age, my mom and I used to redecorate my childhood home at least once a year. As I got older, I took carpentry classes and would design and build furniture for myself, friends and family. My dad had a construction company and during summers I used to work with him as a laborer. Through that experience I developed an interest for building beautiful homes.

After I finished my degree in Civil Engineering, I joined the construction industry in the US as full-time project manager in various sectors. In the last 12 years, I have been fortunate enough to be trusted with many clients’ visions for their dream spaces and have helped them through the process of turning those visions into a reality. I've been lucky enough to build dream homes for families of all sizes and shapes, sometimes even witnessing them as they enjoy living in their ideal space.

In my personal life I have a few interests that I get heavily involved in. I am a huge fan of the performing arts and I watch a lot of them, participate in a few, and have even produced a couple shows. I am a huge psychology enthusiast and I participate in a variety of lectures and courses to learn more about human behavior. Outside of those, you can find me at various types of gatherings with my friends: we enjoy all sorts of activities from games to hikes and debates.

I’m passionate about art and design as well as management organization, which led me to obtain my Bachelors degree in Visual Communication design, and later an MBA, from the University of Bradford in the UK. My professional experience in design and project management started in 2007, when I oversaw large resort hotel design projects as well as custom private residential remodels.

As a project manager, I offer extensive remodeling project experience and manage the entire process from initial consultation and needs assessment to plan development/execution, collaboration with architects and contractors, and selection of finishes, architectural elements, and accessories. My approach to design is to achieve the perfect balance between visual style and functional space. I work on projects of all sizes and kinds, including space planning, kitchen and bath design, furnishings, color consultations, finish selections, and overall project management.

After traveling to so many cities, living in quite a few, and experiencing their different cultures, I believe the Bay Area is one of the best places you can live in. I love the weather, the food, and what nature here has to offer. When I’m not working you’ll find me either hiking in the middle of the redwoods or sitting in front of my easel, painting.

My journey into the Design and Construction world started at a young age, driven by my passion for art and creativity. This ultimately led me to pursue and obtain my Interior Design Master's degree in Italy. Having completed my studies in Europe and gained valuable experience, I felt fully confident in pursuing my dreams in the design and construction industry. My extensive experience in Design and Construction management began in 2006, working with clients from around the world and later moving into the Real Estate market.

I enjoy being an Interior Designer because it allows me to combine my passion for creativity, aesthetics, and functionality. Nothing is more thrilling than working closely with clients to understand their vision, then bringing that vision to life through thoughtful design, material selection, and spatial planning. Owning my own business allows me to make my own decisions, create something from scratch, and see my hard work directly pay off. I’ve had the privilege of living in some beautiful places. Although I currently live in Texas, I will always be a born-and-raised Colorado girl and try to visit my home state as often as possible.

My specialty is luxury kitchen and bath design. I have an extensive background in decorative tile and stone, plumbing fittings/fixtures, lighting, and hardware. Over 16 years in Los Angeles, I've curated a portfolio of builds, renovations, and expansions and have forged connections with clients that last well beyond project completion.

My profession combines my childhood dream with a deep satisfaction derived from creating a lasting legacy. With a keen eye for design and a love for watching concepts evolve into tangible structures, I enjoy the intricate blend of creativity and engineering that defines this field. Here’s a quick sketch of my life to date: I’m originally from Chicago, was schooled in New York, and reconnected with my roots in Italy. I finally found my heart in San Francisco, where I've been for the past 13 years. I have over two decades experience working in design. I’m a passionate designer with a background in marketing design and UI/UX design for mobile apps. As a self-starter and team player, I’m proficient in taking a product from an idea to reality.

One of my greatest accomplishments was leaving the tech world to remodel and restore my 1940s Doelger duplex in Inner Sunset. It was a great opportunity to roll up my sleeves, put on my hard hat and become an interior designer. Since then, I’ve been hooked on remodeling. I’m proud to say that I’ve flipped three homes in five years. It's been eye-opening working in the 3-D real world and I'm here to stay!

I take my design inspiration from two fellow females. One is Dorothy Draper, one of the first female interior designers. I can relate to the challenges she must have faced in a male-dominated industry and the fact that she never gave up; her brave, colorful, and trend-breaking style is still relevant today. My other inspiration is Alison Victoria from HGTV’s “Windy City Rehab.” As a fellow Chicagoan, I can appreciate Alison Victoria’s desire to keep Chicago homes looking modern yet true to their roots. I find this far more visually rewarding than designing an interior with no connection to its past.

When I’m not behind my computer designing, I’m in the great outdoors hiking, running with my dog Dominic, playing the sax, photographing dragonflies, or redesigning my house.

I am a creative soul hailing from the sun-kissed shores of Southern California and currently residing in the vibrant Carlsbad/San Diego region. My journey in the world of design began a decade ago when I discovered my innate talent for furnishing vacation homes. This initial spark ignited a series of transformations that led me to explore different avenues, from staging homes for real estate ventures to skillfully fixing and revamping properties for real estate. Today, my expertise lies in residential design. That’s me in a nutshell!

A true So Cal native, my life revolves around the things I hold dear - my cherished relationships with family and friends and my love for outdoor sports that keep me going and lower my stress levels. I was born and raised in the Central Valley and earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Interior Design from California State University Sacramento. Since then, I have worked hands-on with a wide range of building and interior design materials in showrooms and retail stores, which has made me knowledgeable (and opinionated about!) all kinds of furniture, flooring, kitchen design, countertop materials, architectural elements, luxury door hardware, and plumbing products.

I enjoy working with architects, designers, and showrooms to specify the right product for the project and finding solutions to achieve the desired aesthetic. I recently started a home-staging business with my design partner, working with realtors and homeowners to maximize sales. I love taking a “what is this room for?” space and turning it into a functional and beautiful part of the home.

Outside of my professional experience in building and design, I have remodeled or built four homes and have found it exhilarating. I am always up for a new project and ready to learn “how to.” In my downtime, I love searching out and rehabbing vintage furniture. As a seasoned real estate speculator, I thrived in the competitive world of property acquisition and flipping. However, I soon recognized an inherent unfairness in the process: many sellers were losing the inherent value of their family homes. This inspired a powerful shift in my career. My mission became helping families preserve their hard-earned equity. I embarked on a journey to help families take control of their property flips. Today, by offering guidance, resources, and unwavering support, I seek to ensure that homeowners can retain the fruits of their labor rather than yielding them to investors.

It was a way to earn some extra money, but it also gave me a chance to learn the ropes from the ground up. Over time, what started as a job turned into a passion and a commitment to the industry. It’s also been a great way to stay connected with my family and carry on a tradition that’s been important to us.

I have been in construction for 20 years; my career started out in Seattle, Washington building out commercial sites. When I moved to Newport Beach, California 15 years ago, I transitioned into residential construction. I quickly learned it was a more detailed and satisfying process; there is more detail and custom work involved, which can really makes the jobs fun.

I have been involved in everything from full ground-up construction to full remodels. I take pride in working closely with the developer or homeowner to build the dream home they are looking for, and ensure my crews and I are all on the same page regarding project vision and quality of work. Finish work in my eyes is the most important aspect of a great job: my team and I won’t leave a site until the final outcome is exactly the way it was drawn up.

I’ve been designing homes and landscapes for over 20 years. I have had the experience of remodeling my own homes; in fact, I designed and built my own home from the ground up! I have a passion for architecture, design and our environment. This led me to degrees in Interior Architectural Design & Landscape Architecture, a LEED GA accreditation, and certifications as a ReScape Qualified Landscape Design Professional and ReScape Qualified Firescaping Professional. I graduated from the internationally acclaimed National Institute of Design with a Master's degree in fashion design. Having worked in the fashion industry for some well-known clothing brands, I decided to pursue my passion for interior design, which led to my certification and the creation of my own interior design business.

As a result, I have both design and project management experience, a unique combination that helps to provide both strategic and creative guidance and deliver successful, beautiful projects on time and on budget.

I’ve completed over 30 projects in the last 18 months with Freemodel, from full-on remodels of all rooms (including opening walls) to just surface improvements. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to design; I like to curate my choices carefully, keeping in mind the competitive landscape in the surrounding areas, design trends, the tastes of my clients, and most importantly, the strategic value of my choices and upgrades. I love a killer before-and-after shot and always try to go above and beyond for my clients.

I’m originally from South Africa and love a good braai, our version of a barbecue cookout. I’m a big sports enthusiast but mostly I love hanging out with my family and two little ones (which keep me very busy!). I just got back from a dream trip to Southern Africa with family and friends, where I toured five different countries, got charged by an elephant, and swam in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. After college, I pursued a real estate license, but realized that I wanted to do more for the home and for the person buying it. It only took a few new homeowners to show me that many people don't know what drives the value of a home. That’s why I now specialize in design and renovations.

Watching the market change so much and homes change so little inspires me to help create change. I feel like every space has the potential to be a great (and profitable) one with the proper team. No matter what the condition is there is always something you can do to enhance the value!

I've grown organically into the real estate industry. From my Lego sets as a kid to my Architectural Digest subscription as a teenager to my exposure to construction projects via my contractor uncle, design and architecture have always been a part of my life. I have 20+ years' professional experience in design and construction in the residential, hospitality, retail, and commercial sectors. Over time, I've been able to incorporate my love of design into my work experience, delivering bespoke, beautiful projects that bring my clients' visions to life.

I'm a very detail-oriented person who likes to ask a lot of questions and get clarification from all the trades about the upcoming work. I find this context helps me proactively spot issues and resolve problems before they arise, through thoughtful design and planning. My favorite design styles are contemporary, transitional, coastal, modern, minimalist, Mediterranean, organic, industrial, and even art deco.

In my free time, I enjoy traveling and live music. I recently got into the sport of Barn Hunt with our two cocker spaniels, in which dogs search for humanely treated rats in specialty tubes in an enclosure with lots of hay bales and obstacles and time limits. I love it as much as my dogs do!

My journey into the real estate renovation industry began with a foundation in mechanical engineering. Upon graduating with a Bachelor of Science in that field, I ventured into construction to apply my engineering knowledge in a practical setting. As a certified construction and electrical manager, I've successfully supervised and overseen multiple construction and electrical projects. I thrive in dynamic environments where teamwork and strategic planning are paramount.

My experience spans various design styles, allowing me to adapt to diverse project requirements. While I appreciate the elegance of minimalist and modern designs for their sleek and functional appeal, I also have expertise in accommodating traditional styles like farmhouse and blending cultural elements, such as Japandi fusion. My versatile background enables me to align design choices with client preferences and project objectives seamlessly.

Outside of work, I enjoy exploring new hiking trails, experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, and planning exciting travel adventures. I believe in a balanced approach to life, bringing creativity and dedication to both my professional endeavors and personal interests.

From a very young age I have viewed the world with an artist’s eye, being inspired by the environments I’ve lived in and finding beauty in the unexpected. My diverse background and experiences have shaped my point of view as a creative person and story teller in the world of interiors. Everyone has a story and I love using design as a way to reflect that in a home. When working with someone, it’s important for me to build a relationship and see their point of view.

As a project director/ interior designer in Tampa, Florida, I graduated with a bachelor’s in Business Administration from Florida Atlantic University and have always envisioned running a business in the creative realm. I have experience in sales, working with high-end residential interior design firms, managing and creating home design projects from initial consultation to final installation, and working with builders in a project management capacity.

I take pride in being fluid with each project and translating the lifestyle and vision of each client through the design. In my experience the best designs have always come from being open to what the space calls for and placing equal emphasis on both form and function. I truly believe that every space has its own bit of magic to offer.

Beyond interior design I enjoy traveling, sports, and the outdoors. Playing soccer all my life has opened my perspective from a cultural standpoint; it has also allowed me to play professionally after college in Santiago, Chile.

Alexandra Cardenas

My love for interior design started when I was a teenager: I was always focused on interior spaces and design elements. I was fascinated with how the right design elements coming together can positively impact the energy of a space and the people who live in it, which inspired me to pursue my degree in interior design.

My earlier career experience was focused on commercial and corporate facilities and campus planning in Silicon Valley. For the last 12 years my focus has been on residential design, remodeling, and project management. I specialize in space planning and specifications for kitchens, bathrooms, and whole home renovations. This has allowed me to work closely with clients to create their dream spaces and also enhance their home's value and curb appeal. I love what I do, and I also love guiding my clients to make great decisions with a seamless experience.

When I am not in project director / designer mode, I enjoy being by the beach and getting outside as much as possible, traveling to many places, spending time with family and friends, and gardening!

Home renovations have always been a passion of mine. I got into the renovation construction industry because it allowed me to combine my skills in project management with my interest in real estate and design. My degree in psychology from San Francisco University has been valuable in understanding client needs and managing projects effectively. And my Project Management Professional (PMP) certification ensures that I can handle the complexities of renovation projects efficiently.

I have a background in brand new builds and home staging, which further enhances my ability to create appealing and functional spaces for clients. I have also worked on numerous ADU (Accessory Dwelling Unit) projects, which are becoming increasingly popular in the Bay Area for their versatility and ability to provide additional living space. I enjoy working with real estate agents to prepare homes for the market. I find it rewarding, as it involves transforming spaces and ensuring they are attractive to potential buyers.

Outside of work, I enjoy traveling and finding inspiration in different cultures and architectural styles. My travels have taken me to places like Japan. That’s where I developed an appreciation for the simplicity and elegance of Japandi design, which I often incorporate into my projects. In my free time, I love gardening, while spending time with my family helps me stay grounded and brings balance to my life.

Sadaf Amiri

I grew up in San Diego and moved to Northern Mexico for seven years when I was in middle school and high school. I would help out in my father’s construction firm in the summers whenever I could; I learned a lot from him and his crew at a very young age. I started out my construction career as a carpenter and have learned many trades after that. While I went to Business School to study Business Admin, I started working as a carpenter and have been applying my hands-on knowledge to projects ever since. I have been involved in every aspect of construction for over 20 years now.

l have been a licensed General Contractor for over 10 years and have been in construction for over 20 years. Looking at a project from start to completion gives me great satisfaction. I have worked on a vast amount of projects in San Diego and southern CA ranging from the North Park Observatory to multi-million dollar custom homes in Rancho Santa Fe. I studied Businsess Administration and am fluent in spanish. I grew up in San Diego and Northern Mexico. I am a 3rd generation contractor and building/remodeling is my passion.

Outside of work, I have three children, whom I am very close to. I love photography and I travel as much as possible.

Alfie Cendali

From my earliest days, I was raised by my mother (who remains an active artist) to appreciate the elements of design and workmanship in everything from architecture to textiles, furniture, and food, After graduating from Le Lycée Français in Southern California, I moved to Paris, where I studied Design and Art History. Eventually I landed in New York with a career as a photo stylist, during which time I married and had my first child.

After returning to California and having my second child, I soon found myself single again and on my own, so I decided to change careers. Running a food catering business from home allowed me to spend more time with my children. Eventually, I met Kevin Lennon, an expert contractor/builder. We married and began our new blended family. He had two prior children, and together we added one more. Five kids in total, and happily married to this day!

Early on, I acted as a consultant for my husband’s construction company, Lennon Design, and thus began my 30 year career in design and construction. Concurrently, I was an active interior designer, opening my own antique store in Venice, CA. My interior design services were retained by private individuals and professional establishments alike, while at the same time I created unique furniture and lighting fixtures. Through my retail business, I was recruited to design the entire build out of Apple TV’s “Tastemade” in Los Angeles, CA and Austin, TX, as well as PBS’ “America’s Test Kitchen” in the iconic Boston, MA seaport. Interior design/construction became my focus, and in time I closed my store to devote all of my energy to follow this path.

I welcome challenges, and I especially love projects that engage my design knowledge and sense of creativity. Freemodel provides me with an opportunity to check all the boxes and allows me to utilize the many skills I have acquired over the last 30 years: construction, spatial planning, and design.

Susan Lennon

I have been an active interior designer in the Los Angeles/Orange County areas since 2017, renovating and styling homes from Beverly Hills to Newport Beach and central cities in between. I’ve also had an extensive corporate career in project management, but my passion for interior design led to my certification and the creation of my own interior design business.

As principal designer of my own firm, Green Luxe Design, I specialize in sustainable design, tailoring each project specifically to my clients’ needs. I am also an avid real estate investor who implicitly understands the complex buying and selling process, and feel that my well-rounded experience has led to success in my role as project director on the Freemodel team.

I’m proud of my philanthropic endeavors and work with New Hope Foundation as a grief counselor and with Walk With Sally, where I mentor children of parents with cancer.

Michele Armstrong

I actually started my career in IT, where working with PropTech companies such as Zillow piqued my interest in real estate. This led me to start purchasing and renovating properties as side projects. I later progressed to working full time at companies specializing in single family home renovations.

Living in South Florida, my favorite renovations include those where I can bring the outdoor aesthetic indoors, whether it be a water view or focus on the property landscaping. This includes adding windows or doors that bring in more light and increase these views. I enjoy renovating every part of a project, although bathrooms, kitchens, and patio / gardens I would say I enjoy the most.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, and enjoying the South Florida lifestyle (snorkeling, diving, boating, golfing, biking).

I got into the remodeling industry out of curiosity. After leaving culinary school, I realized I wasn't passionate about the restaurant industry from a culinary perspective. However, my interest in designing and building restaurants grew during my time as a Maintenance/Special Projects Manager. This role sparked my fascination with the intricacies of restaurant design and construction.

I’ve been immersed in the construction industry for 10 years, with 7 of those years dedicated to project management. This extensive experience has allowed me to work on both large, complex projects with high budgets and smaller, intricate renovations. My deep interest in interior design has enabled me to seamlessly blend both disciplines and bridge the gap between construction and design. I find great satisfaction in transforming spaces to better fit the needs and dreams of homeowners, creating environments that are both functional and inspiring.

Outside of work, I love traveling to gather inspiration, making art, and working on updates to our own home. These hobbies not only provide relaxation and creative outlets but also fuel my design ideas and keep me connected to evolving trends.

Maria Michelle

Born and raised in New Orleans, I was surrounded by inspiring art and creativity. At age seven or so, I realized that a different furniture arrangement in my bedroom created a new "flow" or "vibe" that made me happy. My father was a skilled woodworker and a builder, and he taught me a lot about working with tools and construction. After studying interior design at the University of Montevallo and Jefferson State College in Alabama, I started my career as a freelance design consultant for real estate investment companies, helping them select ideal homes for renovation and choosing finishes. This role exposed me to the process of reconstruction and I gained a wealth of knowledge on building materials and tricks of the trades from the GC's and subcontractors I interacted with daily.

Over the years I discovered that my passion is giving new life to old things, whether it's buildings or the items inside. I love architectural details, historical objects, and artistic or handmade design pieces. I enjoy helping people live more happily by transforming their spaces to evoke that new vibe or refreshed feeling that I discovered as a child.

I am originally from a small town in Indiana but I have lived in Los Angeles for almost 17 years now, so I understand the landscape of this amazing city really well. I dove head first into the real estate industry in 2016, starting my own realty & development company and creating my own path. I have also worked on the construction side, designing and flipping dozens of homes for investors as well.

Outside of real estate I absolutely love sports­—it’s something that always seems to be a factor in my life. The driving force of motivation for me, hands down, is my beautiful family. I have an amazing wife and two young kids ages 4 and 6. Being a father figure is the ultimate experience; no question it’s the thing I am most proud of.


Nick Williams

I was born and raised in Santa Cruz County, where I grew up with passion for creativity and a love for arts including interior design. After changing careers multiple times and working in banking for six years, I decided I needed to take it back to my true passion and pursue interior design. And I have not looked back since. I’ve been walking, living, and breathing interior design for almost ten years!

I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in interior design from The Art Institute of CA, Silicon Valley. I’ve been working on residential projects since then, mostly minor commercial projects. I have worked in design firms around the Bay Area such as Burlingame, San Mateo and San Jose. Finding my way back home to Santa Cruz years ago, I have ventured out on my own.

Creating a beautiful and functional space is my ultimate goal. I’m an expert in interior detailing, space planning, architectural development, and learning new skills. As an interior designer I have learned to project-manage and learned that I enjoy that, too.

My favorite kind of days are family beach days! I consider any activity outdoors as being “for the win.” I believe in lazy Sundays filled with way too much coffee.

Marisa Barajas

Originally from Texas, I spent 20 years in the San Francisco Bay Area. Though my earlier career spanned multiple industries and countless job titles, I always had a love of renovating properties and bought, renovated, and sold several houses. About eight years ago, I decided to give up my tech job and go into real estate full time, launching a firm that acquires and renovates properties for rental and/or sale. I have always had a good sense of the design element of a house and what changes can be made to make it look more modern and comfortable. I also love the role of managing a team and watching a beautiful project come together into a move-in ready home for a new buyer.

A few years ago, I seized the opportunity to move back to Austin, TX with my family, and am proud to call myself a Texan again. When I’m not working, you may find me on our boat on Lake Travis or struggling with my clubs on the golf course. My wife and I like to travel frequently, and even having a toddler hasn’t kept us from several international trips since we have been blessed with his presence.

Clark Hamon

My long-time love for model homes inspired me to stage my own homes for sale before I even knew what home staging was. Over the years, I have successfully prepared and sold four of my own personal residences, two before becoming a Professional Home Stager in 2003. Since then, I have consulted on millions of dollars worth of real estate sales and as a result, numerous clients have done the “happy dance” all the way to the bank. (Truth!)

Aside from managing private client projects, I have lent my skills to the small screen as a designer for two HGTV productions. Yes, I am responsible for those uncontrollable, O-M-G, ugly-cry moments that the network and audiences love.

On a personal note, I love to read, but since I’m always on the go, Audible is my best friend. I am a deep tissue massage connoisseur, enjoy a good yin yoga sesh, and love to travel with my not so mini-me who is starting her Freshman year at SDSU this Fall. Go Aztecs!

Alice Tam-Chan

Along with my extensive experience working with a diverse range of customers in Uruguay, I have also gained valuable expertise in handling small renovations and building projects from scratch. Throughout my career, I have been involved in various small renovation projects, where I have worked closely with clients to transform an existing space into something fresh, modern, and functional. In addition to renovations, I have also had the privilege of collaborating with contractors, architects, and other professionals in building projects from the ground up. But whether it's a small remodel or a full construction, I believe that every design endeavor presents a unique opportunity to bring a client's vision to life. Well-designed interiors can have a transformative effect on individuals, promoting productivity, relaxation, and overall well-being.

In my leisure time, I embrace the opportunity to travel and draw inspiration from different cultures and design styles. Exploring new places and experiencing diverse architectural marvels fuels my creativity and enriches my perspective as an interior designer. Back at home, I enjoy the company of my partner and friends, often gathering around a delicious barbecue and cherishing the simple joys of life.

Maria Vargas

Over the years, I’ve worked on commercial interiors, space planning, custom furniture design, ergonomic product design, manufacturing, and remodeling of residential homes for the real estate market. My career in interior design provides me with the enjoyable opportunity to work on a full spectrum of interior environments. Starting in 2010, I worked with a company as an interior designer, stager, and project director. Eventually I took on the role of lead designer on multimillion dollar remodeling projects, updating homes for the resale market. My role was critical to the growth of the company as we moved from staging homes and project management to the renovation of dozens of homes at a time. I transitioned from being responsible for my own projects to the role of supervising the design team in the selection of all finishes, fixtures, and lighting for each individual home.

On a personal level, I became more serious about painting and drawing in 2010, and followed this passion by maintaining an art studio throughout my career. Living in Sonoma has allowed me to see clearly how much the natural environment influences my artwork. This observation directed me to study more about Biophilia, which is defined as the innate human instinct to connect with nature and other living beings. I am drawn to interpret this personal connection to nature in an abstract format, and discover new ways to let it play out in my work. I have a deep commitment to painting, which has taught me the importance of exploration and to value the many lessons along the way.

As a project director for Freemodel, my goal is to always use creativity and logic to solve design problems. I am able to use the skills that I have acquired throughout my career as a designer/project manager. Although I received my degree in interior design, I decided also to pursue a career in teaching. As an elementary school teacher, I truly honed my organizational and communication skills! After many years of teaching, I circled back to design and started a small interior design company. These paths led me to the Freemodel team.

My family is a very important part of my life. We spend as much time together as possible traveling, playing board games, and enjoying the outdoors. Something that my husband, my two daughters, and I have always loved is dogs! We have been a part of several nonprofit K9 organizations and own a few dogs as well. As a family activity (and commitment), we served as Puppy Raisers for Guide Dogs for the Blind for many years. Currently I am involved in the Beagle Freedom Project, and recently fostered/adopted the cutest beagle from South Korea. Dogs give my family and me great love and joy!

Korey McKean

I have an engineering degree and have been renovating and doing construction in San Francisco since 2001. I started by buying a 3-unit building in the city. I didn’t have the money to hire anyone, so I just started doing these renovations on my own. To do anything major, the guy at the building department said I would really need to have a general contractor’s license, so of course I got one!

I was mostly focused on multi-family apartment buildings and ADU's until recently. I’ve completely rebuilt numerous homes starting with completely new foundations and complete gut remodels. I have renovated well over 100 apartments and built over a dozen ADU's into existing apartment buildings.

In my free time, I like spending time with my 3 teenage kids and doing sports. These days, I have been riding my bikes a lot, mountain biking and road riding. Though my latest adventure has been trying to learn how to line dance. And I always like to travel to new destinations. I'm going to Prague this summer with my middle daughter.
